SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS:
I was the centre topper in I, II, V and VI semesters of M.D.S.E course at Aptech, Basheerbagh. The major topics of these semesters were, FoxPro, COBOL, Structured Systems Analysis, Software Engineering Procedures, Software Project Management, Software Quality Assurance, Object Oriented Programming with C++ and Windows SDK.
I scored 100% in my final year practical examination and almost above 80% in all the practical examinations in my graduation.
SOFTWARE PROJECT PROFILE:
Kirloskar Hospital is a 200 bedded hospital with specialisation in Gynaecology, Gastroenterology and Surgical Laparoscopy. Till 1996, this establishment had a network of 25-workstation connected to a Novell Netware 3.12 server. The server had Oracle 7.1 database running on it. Now this establishment has a large network of over 75 workstations running Windows '95 connected to a Primary Domain Controller, three Backup Domain Controllers running Windows NT 4.0 and a Novell Netware 3.12 server running Oracle 7.1 database spanning an entire building.
Working as a Systems Engineer for this establishment, my job is to administer the entire network. I'm responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance and administration of the network. I used the 'Migration tool for Netware ' on Windows NT server to migrate clients from Netware server to NT server. I used 'Client for Netware Networks' on workstations to connect to the Netware server. I used 'Server Manager' on NT server to manage clients and resources on the network. I used 'User Manager for Domains' to create, modify, view, delete and manage security policies for user accounts, local groups and global groups. In 'Administrative Wizards' I used 'Add User Accounts Wizard' to add new users, 'Group Management Wizard' to create and manage groups of users, 'Managing File and Folder Access Wizard' to share drives and folders for the network clients, 'Add Printer Wizard ' to set-up and share printers on the network 'Add/Remove Programs Wizard' to install and remove programs, 'Install New Modem Wizard' to set-up modems, 'Network Client Administrator Wizard' to install and update network clients and 'License Wizard ' to keep track of the software licenses we use for servers and clients. I implemented roaming, mandatory and local profiles for the users of the network using 'User Profiles' option in 'Control Panel-System' and 'System Policy Editor'. I used 'Disk Administrator' to create and manage partitions, volumes and to implement fault tolerance RAID 1 (Mirroring and Duplexing), RAID 5 (Striping with parity), Disk Mirroring and Disk Duplexing. I implemented file level security using the NTFS file system. I used the 'Control Panel-Network' option to install, configure and manage the various network services, protocols, adapters and bindings. I also installed a tape drive for taking backups using 'Control Panel-Tapes' and used the 'Backup' utility to take the regular and incremental backups. I configured TCP/IP for Internet Connectivity using 'Dial-up Networking' and 'Netscape Communicator 4.01' for surfing the net. This version of Communicator supports different user profiles, which I configured. I also wrote a dial-up script to automate the process of connecting to the ISP. I also configured Remote Access Services for users using 'Remote Access Admin'. I used various tools like 'Network Monitor' to examine network traffic to and from the server at the packet-level, 'Event Viewer' to monitor the various events, 'Performance Monitor' to monitor the performance of the server and all the other resources on the network and 'Windows NT Diagnostics' to diagnose all the hardware (disks, memory, PCI/ISA cards, device drivers etc.) available on the server. Apart from this I used the various tools available in 'Control Panel' for performing various tasks as and when needed.
• FEB '96 - MAY '96 (Aptech Computer Education, Mehdipatnam, INDIA)
Aptech is a big giant in Indian software training industry. It has over 650 centres spanning the entire country and some parts of Middle East. Aptech, Mehdipatnam is one of its training centres, which has a network of 25 workstations and 3 servers.
Worked on probation as a Lab In-charge for this organisation
for three month. During this period I was involved in installation, maintenance
and administration of the network. The network was divided into two, each
with 10 workstations. Both the networks had Novell Netware 3.12 server.
But the second network also had Oracle 7.1 database installed at the server
and was also connected to a UNIX server. The clients in the first network
were running Windows 3.1 and the clients in the second network were running
Windows '95. The clients in the second network had access to the UNIX server
through 'Telnet' and the Netware server through the 'Client for
Netware Networks'. I was also responsible for creating and managing
the users and groups, writing the login scripts, managing the security
on the Netware server. The establishment also had Internet connection,
which I configured on a Windows '95 machine through 'Dial-up networking
and TCP/IP'.
